Michael G. Fritz

Michael G. Fritz was born in East Berlin in 1953. He studied drilling engineering at Freiberg’s University of Mining and Technology and was ex-matriculated in 1975 for political reasons. He worked as a warehouse man and assistant driver, and from 1976 had various jobs at Dresden’s municipal libraries. In 1993 he was awarded his degree retrospectively by the University of Mining and Technology in Freiberg. He is now an author and journalist and lives in Berlin and Dresden. He has been awarded some highly respected grants and become well known for his novels, short stories, essays on art and articles as a literature critic. Some of his work has been translated into other languages.
